We all want to look and feel as healthy as possible. While self-help books might have been all the craze in the 90s, lack of motivation and a clear understanding of wellness has proved to be a big setback for many. More often that not, we need a guiding hand, a team of qualified specialists who can support and motivate us to become the best version of ourselves.
If that version of yourself feels far away and you’re looking for a meaningful change, then why not try a wellness program that looks at all the intricate details that make you, well, you? You’re no Tom, Dick or Harry, so our approach to health needs to meet your individual needs. You might think we’re being biased, so take it from an insider, someone who recently completed our 8 Weeks to Wellness program and has never felt better.
Meet Edna…
Why did you choose 8 Weeks to Wellness?
‘I’ve always been active, exercising at least 3 times a week, but I’d remained the same weight for years so something wasn’t right. I’d been living with sciatica and have been suffering from Crohn’s for too long, so I was hoping that the diet plan could help with the inflammation and that the massages and chiropractic adjustments would allow me to exercise without pain’
It can be frustrating when you consider yourself to be ‘a healthy person’ and you believe you’re doing all the right things but still not seeing the fruit of your efforts. The decision to join a wellness program has a lot to do with this. Edna had stagnated at a certain weight, was on all sorts of medication, including steroids for chronic inflammation linked to Crohn’s disease and she was on a long waiting list with the NHS for her sciatica. When you get to this point you think ‘there must be another way’.
How is 8WW different from all other programs?
Edna originally came to us seeking chiropractic care for her sciatica. She was sometimes struggling to walk and even get out of bed. The thing about sciatica is that it isn’t a condition in itself, but it’s a very good indicator that something else is wrong and causing compression on the sciatic nerve.
Maybe you’re feeling like you need to shed a few pounds, or you want a more positive outlook on life, or maybe you feel riddled with body pains and you’ve tried everything possible to change and make things better. For most people all these issues are very tightly connected but there is no care system built to look at the whole of you. You shouldn’t treat every part of your body in isolation. It’s about looking at the whole picture, and this is where wellness programs are so special.
‘The best thing about 8WW is that it isn’t just diet, there are so many other aspects involved in the program. The chiropractic adjustments and regular massages have had the biggest impact on my health and fitness. I’m no longer restricted and can exercise completely pain-free!’
Edna needed a team of specialists that would take all aspects of her health into consideration. We believe in a truly holistic approach to your health. Your brain, spine and the map of nerves reaching from head to toe control ALL your body functions, so if something isn’t working, we look at the interference on the nervous system first. In our initial meeting we assess your pain and how best to integrate chiropractic care, diet, massage therapy, fitness training and mindfulness into your journey to wellness. We tailor the program to your specific needs and goals.
What made you finally decide to join our Wellness program?
I did think about it for a couple of weeks. I asked myself ‘can I afford to do this?’ but the answer I got from friends and family was ‘ Edna, can you really put a price on your health?’.
Many feel this way, but the truth is that we spend a lot more money on consumer goods that we don’t need or unhealthy habits such as drinking and smoking. We know now that those who lead a healthy and stress-free lifestyle, don’t only live longer but have a much better quality of life. While some can achieve this on their own, so many of us need a helping hand, especially when it gets to the point where you’re putting-up with pain. Health and wellness IS a priority and any money spent on your health is an investment and future saving.
8WW ‘isn’t something you dip into, it becomes part of your life’
Edna’s right. 8 Weeks to Wellness is so successful because it’s sustainable.
When clients first come to Spinal Care Clinics in Brentwood asking about the program, some get excited at the idea that it will only take 8 weeks to achieve that dream body or be cured from all ailments but 8 WW is so much more than that. It marks a turning point in many people’s lives, between the old and the new healthy you: the best version of yourself that you’ll sustain throughout life.
