Whiplash – How to help for the long term with whiplash – Part 3

Whiplash can also result in postural changes. Overstretched tissues change resting positions, e.g. forward head carriage. Over time, this can mean further neck aches and pains down the line.  Understand what we can for you if you’re suffering from whiplash in our previous blog.

So how can we help, long term? – Maintenance Care

Your Chiropractor may spot areas of concern with your posture and movement patterns in your functional assessment.

In these instances, they will refer you to one of our in-house personal trainers (PT). Our PT’s will take you through a movement screen to confirm areas that are tight, and weak muscles/muscle groups. They will then guide you with appropriate exercises to, in time, correct these imbalances.

Doing exercises as guided, and taking an active role gives you a long term solution.

Sustained postures, repetitive movements and other possible accidents will naturally create tensionand imbalances. To maintain healthy movement, it’s useful to keep a check of your spine, muscles and nervous system on a routine basis with maintenance appointments of Chiropractic and/or massage and PT sessions. A vast majority of our maintenance clients told us how much of a difference they noticed when they did not attend for their appointments during lockdown. They mostly expressed feeling ‘tight’, ‘achey’ and more prone to issues with their spines. Maintenance care is recommended by your Chiropractor when appropriate and at a frequency that best suits the individual.
